2019 Chardonnay
This Bench Chardonnay was whole cluster pressed and wild fermented in French oak barrels. Secondary fermentation was also wild and aged for 18 months in French oak of varying ages. The nose is honeyed with golden apple and lemon meringue. The mid-palate carries through these flavours with a nice shift to layers of nutmeg and butterscotch. It is a medium-weight Chardonnay that is balanced with a gentle presence of oak that lends to a pleasantly spiced finish.
Designed to improve with age until 2024 and may be cellared until 2029.

From the vineyard (190 Cases):
This bottle is a lovely mix of estate wine and neighbouring Bench vineyard to produce this exquisite 2019 Chardonnay. Anchored with grapes from our small Charlene Vineyard which consists of the original organic plantings. In their first season under new viticultural practices, they really showed what this unique property is capable of under organic practices. The small pick was a perfect marriage with the Chardonnay grown just down the Bench.
